Release date: May 1st 2012
Charlotte and Oliver have been friends forever. She knows that he, Abe, and Trip consider her to be one of the guys, and she likes it that way. She likes being the friend who keeps them all together. Char has a house full of stepsisters and a past full of backstabbing (female) ex-best friends, so for her, being friends with boys is refreshingly drama-free...until it isn't any more.
When a new boy enters the scene and makes Char feel like, well, a total girl...and two of her other friends have a falling out that may or may not be related to one of them deciding he possibly wants to be more than friends with Char...being friends with all these boys suddenly becomes a lot more complicated.

(Amazon | Goodreads)
Release date: May 8th 2012
Honor receives her brother's last letter from Iraq three days after learning that he died, and opens it the day his fellow Marines lay the flag over his casket. She hasn't seen him in ages, thanks to a falling out between the two guys, but Rusty is much the same as Honor remembers him: arrogant, stubborn. . . and ruggedly good looking. Neither one is what the other would ever look for in a road trip partner, but the two of them set off together, on a voyage that makes sense only because it doesn't. Along the way, they find small and sometimes surprising ways to ease their shared loss and honor Finn--but when shocking truths are revealed at the end of the road, will either of them be able to cope with the consequences?

Pretty Amy by Lisa Burstein
(Amazon | Goodreads)
Release date: May 15th 2012
Amy is fine living in the shadows of beautiful Lila and uber-cool Cassie, because at least she’s somewhat beautiful and uber-cool by association. But when their dates stand them up for prom, and the girls take matters into their own hands—earning them a night in jail outfitted in satin, stilettos, and Spanx—Amy discovers even a prom spent in handcuffs might be better than the humiliating “rehabilitation techniques” now filling up her summer. Worse, with Lila and Cassie parentally banned, Amy feels like she has nothing—like she is nothing.
Navigating unlikely alliances with her new coworker, two very different boys, and possibly even her parents, Amy struggles to decide if it’s worth being a best friend when it makes you a public enemy. So these are the May releases I'm looking forward to. What May releases are you most excited for?
Some of these books are really awesome! Thanks for the share! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know Hourglass is just releasing!! wow... i always get confused arc to finished copy. hard to keep up with.
ReplyDeleteOh, Hourglass has been out for a while - it's just coming out in paperback this month!
ReplyDeleteI just finished my galley of Welcome, Caller, This is Chloe and I LOVED it. It's such a great book. I have seen stuff about In Honor around for a while. I can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteI love these posts. It really helps to full up my list of books to start putting on hold at the library, so I can get a chance at reading them -- Clean by Amy Read is AWESOME, by the way. I can't wait to read Second Chance Summer, specifically. Morgan Matson's Amy & Roger's Epic Detour was great, so I bet this will be, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle. I love Romeo and Juliet, but I'd never thought about poor Rosaline, and how she was just discarded. This is great, and as I'm on a contemp binge at the moment that's an added bonus that it's not a historical.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many awesome releases - Being Friends With Boys, Unbreak My Heart, Hourglass, Pretty Amy (great voice!!), Past Perfect, Welcome Caller This is Chloe!!
So much contemporary books are coming out *cries from happiness* I REALLY want First Comes Loves, In Honor & Second Chance Summer & While He was Away the most!

ReplyDeleteThis list will definitely make me poor! There are a lot of great releases that I've been waiting for. When You Were Mine (This is funny! Romeo and Juliet WITH Rose. Now, it's not just their parents that are getting in between them, there's a best friend too!), Waiting (Just reading the synopsis makes my heart ache. Seriously. I wanted to know what happen to Hope! And with that cover, I'm getting more and more curious), The Summer of No Regrets (I just read your interview with Katherine and it's seriously funny! I can't wait to know Luke), While He Was Away (I've read a book before which contains long-distance relationship with a soldier. What's more painful than that? Other than worrying about your relationship, you gotta worry about your boyfriend's life too. It's seriously sad and painful! ), In Honor (THIS I LOVE BECAUSE IT INCLUDES A ROAD TRIP. I love road trips! I love Saving June!), Second Chance Summer (The premise of the story makes me sad and happy. I love contemporary books especially when it's about family.) , Past Perfect (even though it's just a re-release), and of course, INSURGENT (This is one of the best dystopian novels I've ever read!). I'm also curious about Pretty Amy, First Comes Love and Hooked. I know most of the novels I listed are contemporary! I so love contemporary. It makes me realize a lot of things. I hope I'll be able to buy all these books. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy their stories, love the new characters and learn a lot of new things!
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks for the super-long comment! I totally agree - there is a ridiculous amount of awesome contemporary books coming out this month. Yay for contemps! And I love road trips too! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for that super long one. I just can't stop myself because those are really great books! :) Hooray for road trips! I hope In Honor will be great!

ReplyDeleteI just read a little bit of First Comes Love and it's so well written!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the characters are quirky:) Which I love in a romance:)
Great! I'm really looking forward to that one :)
ReplyDeleteI'm finding I have a love/hate relationship with your blog. I love all of the book recommendations and reviews but I hate it that my "to read" list keeps growing! Thanks for the compilation of the May releases!
ReplyDeleteAww, that makes me so happy! Thanks so mcuh :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why you've included Hourglass and then released you're talking about paperback releases! Hahaha el oh el! I have most of these books ( jokes, only like four but still) and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Bring Friends with Boys and While He Was Away!
ReplyDeleteYeah, a lot of people were confused about that. I think I need to seperate new releases and paperback releases more clearly or something... Being Friends with Boys is awesome, hope you enjoy it too :)
ReplyDelete
