So this week I got...
Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan
(Amazon / Goodreads)
Goodreads description:
One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, Will Grayson crosses paths with . . . Will Grayson. Two teens with the same name, running in two very different circles, suddenly find their lives going in new and unexpected directions, and culminating in epic turns-of-heart and the most fabulous musical ever to grace the high school stage. Told in alternating voices from two YA superstars, this collaborative novel features a double helping of the heart and humor that have won them both legions of fans.
I love John Green, and I've heard great things about David Levithan's writing, too, so I'm pretty sure I'll love this one!
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
(Amazon / Goodreads)
Goodreads description:
It’s been so long since Auden slept at night. Ever since her parents’ divorce—or since the fighting started. Now she has the chance to spend a carefree summer with her dad and his new family in the charming beach town where they live. A job in a clothes boutique introduces Auden to the world of girls: their talk, their friendship, their crushes. She missed out on all that, too busy being the perfect daughter to her demanding mother. Then she meets Eli, an intriguing loner and a fellow insomniac who becomes her guide to the nocturnal world of the town. Together they embark on parallel quests: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she’s been denied; for Eli, to come to terms with the guilt he feels for the death of a friend.
I already got this from the library a while ago and loved it, but I have this (admittedly stupid) need to buy the books I really like, and since I loved this one (like all of Sarah Dessen's books), I finally got my own copy this week!
Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr
(Amazon / Goodreads)
Goodreads description:
When she is caught in the backseat of a car with her older brother's best friend - Deanna Lambert's teenage life is changed forever. Struggling to overcome the lasting repercussions and the stifling role of "school slut," she longs to escape a life defined by her past. With subtle grace, complicated wisdom and striking emotion, The Story of a Girl reminds us of our human capacity for resilience, epiphany and redemption.
I loved Once Was Lost by this author (review), and hope the writing in this one is just as great!
