Bout of Books Read-a-thon Wrap-Up

The Bout of Books Read-a-thon is over!

Books read:

1. What She Left Behind by Tracy Bilen
2. Circle of Silence by Carol M Tanzman
3. Liar by Justine Larbalestier
4. Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper
5. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
5.8. We'll Always Have Summer by Janny Han (I almost finished this one last night, but I have about 40 pages left. I didn't want to not count it at all, though, so I'm counting it as .8 books!)

I didn't reach my goal of 8 books, but considering I didn't really start reading until Thursday, I think I did a pretty good job. And even though I didn't reach my goal on the bookish side of things, I'd definitely say this read-a-thon was a success for me. I got to know so many new people on Twitter, in the Twitter chats and just tweeting about my progress - it was awesome! That was definitely the best part of Bout of Books, for me.

The next read-a-thon is supposed to be in August, and as long as it's early August (I'm starting college in the middle of August - eek!), I will definitely be taking part again!

If you took part in Bout of Books, did you reach your goal? What was your favorite part?

  1. I believe that you did a pretty a good job, Hannah! Having to finish 5 books and almost finished another one within what? Like 4 days only? You're pretty much a fast reader. Congratulations for that! :)

Wow. You've read Pushing the Limits. I can't wait to read that one. Hearing lots of good things about it. Is We'll Always Have Summer good? It's so irritating when you're so close to finishing a book in a night but still, you didn't! I've read The Summer I Turned Pretty. I find it a really good book but I wasn't able to connect with Belly in a really good way. Don't know why but I liked the book.

Yeeey. This activity is such a fun one for bloggers! Glad you enjoyed it! Can't wait for you to join the next one. ;) You're going to be in college! Goodluck, okay! What course will you take up and where will you study in US? You'll live in a dorm then?

    Enjoy your summer!

  3. Oh great read-a-thon! You got quite a bit of reading done! Especially since you didn't have the whole week to read.

Did you like Pushing the Limits? Everyone's very excited about it and I think I'll love it:)

Did you enjoy the Summer series by Han? It's one of the most popular series and I hope it is awesome!

  4. Thanks! :)

Yeah, Pushing the Limits was good. It wasn't AMAZING, but it was good - the romance moved a little too fast, in my opinion, but I really liked the characters and their individual stories.

And yes, We'll Always Have Summer is SO good! It's kinda sad, but good. I didn't love Belly at first either, but she grew on me. There's just something about these books that makes them so fun to read!!

  5. Wow....i think if you would have started in the beginning then 5 books would have been amazing but starting thursday and reading all those. I am blown away!!!!!! totally!!!! You should be so proud of yourself.

I loved this read-a-thon too and it was my 1st :) My goal was only 4 books and i am proud to say i managed to achieve this.  I have too much going on to have a really high number of books and without these commitments i could have pushed myself to 8 i think.  I loved reading and getting through my TBR pile a bit more- i normally take a week to read 1 book lol.  For me i loved meeting new ppl, the chatting on twitter and checking out new blogs.  I don't think i did it enough though so next time this is something i need to do more.  Now i feel i am playing catch up with doing review posts, reading other ppls blogs etc xx

Roll on the next one :)  xx

The romance is really good, and I love the characters. And it just has such a nice summer-y feeling. You haven't read any of them? You should :)

  8. Nice going, Hannah!  I definitely didn't meet my goals, but then again, I wasn't sure I would given that I was working six days out of the seven...  I'm very much looking forward to the next read-a-thon, especially if it's RIGHT at the start of August because I've just realised we have an extra couple of days off that week, woohoo!  I loved the Twitter aspect too, being able to catch up with how everyone was doing in 'real-time', and the Twitter chats were mad!  Possibly I should try to go for a little LESS Twitter and a little MORE reading next time though... ;)

Roll on Bout of Books 5.0!  :D

  10. Way awesome with a late start. I don't know how you could have stopped with 40 pages left. *pulls hair out* Belly...what to do?

Twitter chat makes it feel more communal than just blog hopping.

  11. I definitely will read both! I think Pushing the Limits is darker and edgier as a contemporary, which I love and the Summer series sounds sweet and real, which I also love!
