Of course there are books that are good and portray a variety of opinions, but I'm always a little worried about it getting preachy.

I have heard about Temptation, but didn't put it on my wishlist for fear of it being too preachy. But I'm adding it to my wishlist now - if it shows the different sides to things like that, it should be good :)Hannah Doermannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07797679970202012252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294396274737254126.post-9921588687756405942012-07-07T21:10:23.651+02:002012-07-07T21:10:23.651+02:00I totally see why you didn't like it - I get w...I totally see why you didn't like it - I get what you mean about books that come from a particular religious genre. I don't like them either most of the time, because I find they're very narrow-minded (although some are really good! it depends on the author) but I do like learning more about Amish communities. I don't know much about them but I find the whole life interesting, not that I could possibly adjust to those conditions, but it's good as a culture-broadening way.

If you enjoy reading about the clash of cultures or religions, I've seen some good reviews for Temptation by Karen Ann Hopkins. A normal girl falls in love with an Amish boy and the whole story is about how they have to compromise with their different cultures. It's a series, which I think reflects the whole journey of clashing cultures in a good way.Christina Kit.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294396274737254126.post-28175239941796050442012-07-07T20:36:57.684+02:002012-07-07T20:36:57.684+02:00I don't like religious fiction too... Yup, it's usually so weird and without any sense, but I recently read a pretty good one, with a lot of twists, cute romance and unexpected ending. :) I requested it on Netgalley thinking it was another book but it turned out to be nice, even through it annoyed me some parts. I guess we should give religious YA a try... I just don't like when they're preachy or have a very theoretic feel to them. I only put Roadside Assistance on the bottom of my TBR because reading that Amy Clipston is an Amish author who writes Christian fiction made me assume it would be preachy. Books where the main character is searching for something to believe in and different ideologies are represented are totally fine! Small Town Sinners looks to be one of those types of books, and it's high up on my wishlist :)Hannah Doermannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07797679970202012252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294396274737254126.post-20333623359400127822012-07-07T18:34:00.076+02:002012-07-07T18:34:00.076+02:00I thought that I wanted to read this one too, but ...I thought that I wanted to read this one too, but the religious aspect of it kept me from reading it.
