Everyone loved it, but I could not get into it. I'm going to try to re-read it at some point in time, though.

GO ASK ALICE! Oh my god, I think that was the first YA book that made me want to read other YA books. It got me hook, line, sinker, plunger, no hope of not-drowning. Even though the "editor" of the books (Jay's Journal, Treacherous Love, etc) is clearly a fake, she weaves one heck of a book with this one. The only ones I've read are Lola, On The Jellicoe Road, and Vampire Academy! I held out on Vampire Academy for the longest time, but I finally read it about a month ago and it was amazing! You should definitely pick that one up soon, and the series is completed, so that's always a plus! I am not sure how that is possible, but there it is. I sometimes think that because I know the entire story (including the ending) and it's so much a part of our consciousness, that I haven't felt the drive to read it that I might something more mysterious.

That may just be equivocation about the fact that I haven't read 1984.Beverlyhttp://elsewords.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4294396274737254126.post-11939832570851648542012-06-05T22:09:56.900+02:002012-06-05T22:09:56.900+02:00I haven't read Mara, Jellicoe Road, or Vampire...I haven't read Mara, Jellicoe Road, or Vampire Academy either! They made us read it in high school, and it's such an obvious scare tactic "don't do any drugs ever ever or your whole life will forever be ruined" written by "anonymous", which I'm pretty sure means written by some 50-year old guidance councelor or something. Grrrrr.

But anyways, I HIGHLY suggest Beauty Queens by Libba Bray.
