Follow Friday #6 / Book Blogger Hop #6

Follow Friday is a weekly feature hosted by Parajunkee's View. Each week, one blogger is featured, and this week it's Jess at Gone with the Words (be sure to check out her blog!)

It also asks a different question each week.

This week's question is: "How did you come up with your blog name?"

I honestly don't remember how I came up with Paperback Treasures...I'd been thinking about creating a blog for a while and already knew I'd want to call it Paperback Treasures for about a month before I started this blog. I have no idea where I got that name, though - it makes sense, as I somehow like paperbacks way better than hardcover books, and I love collecting paperbacks like treasures (or something like that), but I don't really know how I came up with it... Interesting question this week, though - I'm looking forward to reading everybody else's answers!
Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books and is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word.

This week's question is: "Do you read only one book at atime, or do you have several going at once?"

Well, normally I only read one book at a time - it's easier for me to really be pulled into a story that way. I sometimes read books with embarrassing covers, though (like Pretty Little Liars, for example), which I don't want people to see me reading. I know that's kind of ridiculous, but...I don't know, some of the less...how do I say this...less meaningful books I read (the chick-lit, romance-types) I'd just rather read at home where no on sees me. Then I read two books at once - the one I read at home, and the one I take with me to read on the bus, etc.

That's it for my answers! What about you? Leave your answers or links in the comments!

  1. Old follower stopping by...

I agree about the suggestive book covers. I have two young boys, so I keep those books covered. I'm so thankful for my e-reader. I read all the girly books from it.

I see you're reading The Adoration of Jenna Fox. Is it good? I've been meaning to read it, but a student has it right now. She seems to like it and she NEVER reads.

  3. @flashlight_reader:

Well, The Adoration of Jenna Fox is really different than I expected it to be - I thought it was about a girl who's been in a car accident and doesn't remember anything about herself anymore, and I thought it was going to be about identity and finding out who you are and that kind of stuff.

I now know, though, that it takes place in the future, where technology and medicine are more advanced than they are now. There was something weird about how Jenna survived the accident, and she's trying to figure that out, and I think it's going to be more about the question of how far you should go to keep someone alive, etc.

I've only read about 100 pages, though, so I don't know how I feel about all of that yet. It's okay so far. I'll let you know whether I liked it when I've finished the book!

  6. Not everyone can multi-task and nobody should. When it comes to book sure, I can't read four books simultaneously (or even two, for that matter!) but there are times I'll juggle as many as four books at a time depending on the subject matter, the urgency or more often both.

The real trick to this is what KINDS of books to juggle. Hop on over to my blog and learn the method behind my madness - http://www.howardshermannet

  7. Hopping through. I really shouldn't be embarrassed by any book I read and for the most part I'm not, but I've done the same thing as you. Silly but understandable :-)

  8. I like the name of your blog! I always have a hard time deciding if I prefer paperbacks or hardcovers...hardcovers are more durable but paperbacks are much more convenient to bring with you (and also cheaper, LOL.) I have way more paperbacks than hardcovers in my personal book collection though!

  9. I'm with you in that I like paperbacks more than hardcovers. I find them easier to hold, smaller and lighter.
